Ranthambore Fort
The Ranthambore Fort occupying the heart of the park attracts a whopping number of tourists. History says that the fort was built in 10th century by the Chauhan rulers and it is perhaps the oldest fort currently present in the desertland of Rajasthan. The fort played a crucial role in having a control over Central India especially over the Malwa plateau. The name of the fort has been derived from two hills namely Thambor on which the fort is situated and Ran another hill located near by. The huge fort with an area of 4.5sq.kms is dotted with tanks, massive gates, temples and huge halls. The fort witnessed the the act of self immolation known as jauhar performed by the royal women when the Muslim intruder Ala-ud-din Khijli tried to seige it in 1303.

Jogi Mahal

This forest rest house overlooking the chraming Padam Talab is a beautiful site. Lying adjacent to the park, the Jogi Mahal is replete with all the needed facilities for a comfortable stay. Tourists visit to get a glimpse of the second largest Banyan tree in the country.

Ranthambore National Park
The Ranthambore National Park abounds with various species of flora and fauna .The six man made lakes and several perennial streams feeding the park have made life possible here. As per the estimates, currently the park accommodates over 300 species of trees , 272 varieties of birds and approximately 30 different species of mammals.

Flora : Housing around 300 species of trees and plants, the park primarily consists of dry and deciduous forests finely laced with dhok trees. Other trees which are found in abundance are ancient Banyan trees, Pipal, Neem, Mohua, Kadam, Tamarind. The acquatic flora consists of lotus and water lilly.

Fauna: Tiger is the popular resident of the National Park and also the prime attraction. If luck prevails, one can look forward to having a date with the 'majestic predator'. There are several other residents who are keen to entertain the visitors which include the smallest and the largest antelopes of India ,Chinkara and Nilgai.Other species include Indian Wild Boar,Striped Hyenas, Small Indian Civets, Jackals, Leopards etc.

Reptiles:
The reptile population residing in the park consists of Tortoise, Snub Nosed Marsh Crocodiles, Desert Monitor Lizards, Banded Kraits, Cobras and several others.

Birds :
The National Park is full of water bodies as a result of which various species of birds abound the park.It is indeed a delightful experience to be in the company of 300 species of birds which include Owl, Woodpecker, Cuckoo, Heron, Sparrow, Vulture, Parakeet, Myna, Flycatcher and a whole lot more.
