Katra is a sightseeing retreat for tourists as it is enveloped amidst natural beauty and religious destinations. Mata Vaishno Devi is one of the most popular sightseeing attractions of the city, which stands as the evidence of city’s mythological association with Mata Rani.

Bhairon Temple is another notable sightseeing attraction in the city. It is believed that the Darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi is not complete without the Darshan of the Bhairon Idol in this temple. One of the spectacular places in Katra is, the Banganga. It is believed that this river was created by Mata with a bow and is considered sacred as she washed her hair in this holy water.

Besides Banganga, Darshani Darwaza and Charanpaduka are also some important religious places. Adhkunwari is the half way to the Bhawan and on its right hand side, there is a cave shaped as a womb. It is believed that Mata meditated here for nine long months. The cave is very narrow and only one devotee can pass through at a time.

Tourists with a flair for scenic beauty can visit Himkoti, Sanjichhat and Jhajjar Kotli.  Natural beauty of the valley and snow peak Himalayas are best viewed from these destinations. Besides, tourists can also visit Baba Dhansar Temple which is few kilometres from Katra. At this site, a huge spring is emerging from the rocks which forms a number of small cascading waterfalls before flowing into the holy river, Banganga.

Baba Dhansar Temple and Jhajjar Kotli are other sightseeing places, both 15 km from Katra.
